ITS Info-communications Forum

The ITS Info-communications Forum continues to contribute to the realization of world's most safe, environment - friendly and economical road traffic society by utilizing Information and Communication Technologies.

Greetings from the Chairman

Shinichi Sasaki

ITS Info-communications Forum is formed by around 100 cross-industrial private and government related organizations involved in the promotion of ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) to accelerate R&D and standardization of the ITS info-communications systems as well as their promotional activities. Since its establishment in 1999, the Forum has generated practical results including standards of DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communications), 700MHz band ITS, and 79GHz high-resolution radar.

Currently, VICS (Vehicle Communication and Information System) and ETC (Electronic Toll Collection system) has become established as ITS basic applications of the road traffic systems and are contributing to enhanced mobility of people and goods. However, our road traffic systems are still faced with many challenges such as providing solutions to reduce the number of traffic accidents and congestion as well as realization of carbon neutrality. Furthermore, the environment surrounding mobility continues to change, such as the spread of information communication devices represented by smartphones, the emergence of new mobility such as the installation of self-driving functions in commercial vehicles.

the "Priority Policy Program for Realizing Digital Society, 2023" suggested basic policies for the formation of a digital society.

And the mobility program should be promoted by design and implementation of the architecture for the entire digital transportation society.

We will continue to consider the communication system required for the mobility society, and promote R&D and standardization on the ITS info-communication system as well as their dissemination and public awareness activities, and activities aimed at international harmonization of ITS spectrum.
Let's work together toward future ITS info-communication society.
