After the chairman, Dr. Toyoda, delivered the opening remarks, the vice-chairman, Dr. Hatori, presided over the conference, and the business activities and financial account settlements for fiscal 2006 were reported. The business plan and financial budget for fiscal 2007 were then reviewed, and the appointment of executives and Steering Committee members for fiscal 2007 was proposed. All matters proposed and discussed were duly approved. Dr. Toyoda took up the subject of the new IT reform strategy, "Realizing the world's safest road traffic society" and made the comment that as safety driving support systems are being developed and their demonstration experiments are accelerating in various areas, the ITS Info-communications Forum, from the perspective of an organization promoting the standardization of inter-vehicle and road-to-vehicle communication, should contribute to the large-scale demonstration experiments and practical application of safety driving support systems.
